Last of the Blue Ridge speaks to the destruction and loss of the Appalachians. Mountain top removal mining ravages the local ecosystem and surrounding population. Heavy metals poison water supplies, contributes to massive erosion and flooding, and increases the risk of cancer and developmental problems.

Growing up in the foothills of these mountains, it pains me to see the area destroyed for coal when clean energy alternatives exist. I want to see the end of mountain top removal and restoration of this important region before the sun falls beneath the horizon of a devastated landscape.
